Opis

Ključne činjenice

Te vrste su zeljaste biljke (uglavnom male, višegodišnje ili jednogodišnje). Ima cvjetove tipične kupusnjačama - 4 latice raspoređene u obliku križa.

Rasprostranjenost:

Porijeklom uglavnom iz Europe, Azije i dijelova sjeverne Afrike i dijelova obiju Amerika.[2] Staništa im se često nalaze na kamenitim tlima, planinama, pa čak i metalima bogatim (kontaminiranim) tlima. [3]

Posebna karakteristika:

Neke vrste Noccaea poznate su kao hiperakumulatori, što znači da mogu apsorbirati i pohraniti neobično visoke razine teških metala kao što su cink, nikal i kadmij. Dobro poznati primjer je Noccaea caerulescens, naširoko proučavan u znanosti o okolišu. Zbog ove sposobnosti, ove biljke su važne u fitoremedijaciji (čišćenje zagađenog tla). [3]
