Curl je reflektivno objektno-orijentirani programski jezik namijenjen interaktivnim mrježnim aplikacijama, čiji je cilj providjeti glatki prijelaz između formatiranja sadržaja i računalnog programiranja. Čini mogućim ugraditi složene objekte u jednostavne dokumente ne trebajući prebacivati se između programskih jezika ili razvojnih platforma. Curlova implementacija početno se sastojala samo od interpretera, a jezični prevoditelj (kompilator) je dodan poslije.
Curl je vlasnički softver, deklarativni, funkcijski, označiteljski i homoikonični programski jezik visoke razine. Bogata je mrježna aplikacija.
