Ne postoje znanstveni dokazi ljekovitosti šilajita.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Koristi  se u ajurvedskoj, kineskoj tradicionalnoj i tibetanskoj medicini, a po državama bivšeg Sovjetskog saveza prodaje se u raznim oblicima kao dodatak prehrani. Zbog iskorištavanja i iscrpljivanja nalazišta, većina tržišnog šilajita je imitacija.&lt;br /&gt;
